The Great Eclipse of 2015

September 20, 2015

For four hours plus 15 minutes

the world stopped to look

at a phenomenon as old

as the galaxy; as dependable

and predictable as a mathematical

equation and to be amazed

and dazzled as if it were a

new discovery never before

displayed before an audience

so eager for its beauty

and simplicity and

so ready for a debut

so full of science and art

so brimming with faith

and mystery

so peaceful and serene

and quiet

so symbolic of the ages

and the ageless

so old and yet so new.

For 255 minutes we

stopped.

For 255 minutes we

were in awe.

For 255 minutes we

marveled and smiled.

For 255 minutes we

all agreed.
