Welcome to Rainbow Mennonite Church on this weekend when many in our country celebrate freedom and patriotism. We celebrate knowing that that we are in a world of many peoples; Palestinian and Jew, Muslim and Christian, Hindu and Buddhist, Yazidi and Mayan. Agnostics, existentialists, doubters, believers, and zealots.
Today may we listen for the God who calls us to break down the walls of hostility between peoples and lands, the God who calls us to turn walls into tables and to create a space for the hungry, the homeless, the refugee, friend and foe; all in the name of the One who calls us live in peace with all.
May God move us beyond our own limits and open our hearts in this service and in the coming week. Amen.
