God was pretty worked up. Once the decision had been made to make a change, God had gotten more and more excited. God was going to be on the earth and actually live as a human and be able to teach about the new direction of God. This was a big deal. Humans would finally be able to see the God of Love and surely they would appreciate that. St. Peter finally gave up trying to talk logistics with God and Devil was laughing at God for such a stupid idea.
The plans to go to earth were progressing splendidly. The Heavenly Host was practicing and had even chosen a select group of angels to make sure the announcement was clear and the most beautiful possible. New wings had been issued.
God wanted to make sure that the people on earth got the message so there was a whole legion of angels required. They had to cover the entire world! God had mentioned to not bother with the power structure folks in the temples and government offices; they would get the message some other way and were likely to ignore it anyway or even try to usurp the plan. God’s idea was a “bottom-up” design.
God tried and tried to figure a way for this to happen. Finally God dispatched an angel to talk with Mary and Joseph. They were a very devout but rather shy couple. God felt they would understand and be willing to be a part of this new idea. Mary’s angel made it to her and Mary was overwhelmed and rather confused. She discussed this with her friends and her cousin and together, the women decided that this was a good thing. Joseph’s angel got lost and so Joseph was left in the dark. Not everything went according to plan.
So, Mary was pregnant and Joseph was confused. However, he loved Mary so he declared that it all didn’t matter, he would take care of her. His buddies kind of made fun of him but his love for Mary was so strong that he was going forward anyway. He was pretty stubborn. Then he got the notice about a census and he wondered how much more complicated it was going to be. He wanted to quit but Mary was understanding and patient with him and he was not going to abandon her. He got the donkey ready.
