Transformation is part of
the journey; all those who
journey will be transformed,
become something new
no matter their path
or their destination.
The Holy Family will be
transformed several times;
from a happily engaged
carpenter couple
to new parents
to refugees
to asylum seekers.
The Shepherds
knowing the earth
and living close to the
natural world
will hear the call
and the Magi
knowing the heavens
will discern the message
using their science
and their knowledge.
They will all step out of their routines
and engage in a journey.
Only Herod will remain as he was,
a scared and angry king
guarding the status quo
and resisting the power of
transformation; preserving
his power; dying of
stagnation.
