New Dawns Now

February 8, 2017

the mornings that

dawn now bring

new realities and

new routines

that have

never appeared

before.

The tasks had been

simple before, really

nothing too complicated;

use the bathroom

and brush my teeth

get a cup of coffee

and check Facebook

for pictures of friends

and cats and hopefully

one of the grandchildren

and then get

dressed if the day

required it.

Now I must check

first with MSN to know

what damage has

been perpetrated

on the defenseless

and to

see if 45 has

destroyed the world

before I decide

if the day will

be worth the

preparation.

If the news is

bad, there may

be no reason to

keep writing poems

for there will be

no readers

and no one

to like them

and no one

to even write

his history

and for that he

must be very sad.
