was dark<\/span>&#x200b;&#x200b;&nbsp;<\/p><p class=\"P5\"><span>with only the stars and the moon<\/span><\/p><p class=\"P6\"><span>creating a deep purple hue<\/span><\/p><p class=\"P7\"><span>that overlaid everything;<\/span><\/p><p class=\"P8\"><span>no one was out and the<\/span>&#x200b;&#x200b;&nbsp;<\/p><p class=\"P9\"><span>entire world seemed to be asleep<\/span><\/p><p class=\"P10\"><span>comfortably unaware<\/span><\/p><p class=\"P11\"><span>of any change that might be<\/span><\/p><p class=\"P12\"><span>happening right around the corner<\/span><\/p><p class=\"P13\"><span>from them.<\/span><\/p><p class=\"P14\"><span>My walk through advent had been<\/span><\/p><p class=\"P15\"><span>long and tiring; mostly disappointing<\/span><\/p><p class=\"P16\"><span>but not without anticipation.<\/span><\/p><p class=\"P17\"><span>I turned a corner and<\/span>&#x200b;&#x200b;&nbsp;<\/p><p class=\"P18\"><span>there was a glow that<\/span>&#x200b;&#x200b;&nbsp;<span>came from<\/span><\/p><p class=\"P19\"><span>a simple<\/span>&#x200b;&#x200b;&nbsp;<span>well-worn<\/span>&#x200b;&#x200b;&nbsp;<span>barn and a voice<\/span><\/p><p class=\"P20\"><span>inside my head invited,<\/span><\/p><p class=\"P21\"><span>no,<\/span><\/p><p class=\"P22\"><span>urged<\/span>&#x200b;&#x200b;&nbsp;<span>me to open the door.<\/span><\/p><p class=\"P23\"><span>No, I replied,<\/span>&#x200b;&#x200b;&nbsp;<span>I\u2019ll just look in<\/span>&#x200b;&#x200b;&nbsp;<\/p><p class=\"P24\"><span>through the window, I\u2019m<\/span><\/p><p class=\"P25\"><span>fine with that,<\/span>&#x200b;&#x200b;&nbsp;<span>I\u2019ll<\/span>&#x200b;&#x200b;&nbsp;<\/p><p class=\"P26\"><span>be OK here.<\/span><\/p><p class=\"P27\"><span>No, the voice replied,<\/span><\/p><p class=\"P28\"><span>it is true that<\/span>&#x200b;&#x200b;&nbsp;<span>you can see the light<\/span><\/p><p class=\"P29\"><span>through<\/span>&#x200b;&#x200b;&nbsp;<span>the window but if<\/span>&#x200b;&#x200b;&nbsp;<\/p><p class=\"P30\"><span>you want<\/span>&#x200b;&#x200b;&nbsp;<span>take part<\/span>&#x200b;&#x200b;&nbsp;<span>in<\/span>&#x200b;&#x200b;&nbsp;<span>this<\/span><\/p><p class=\"P31\"><span>you will need to open the door<\/span>&#x200b;&#x200b;&nbsp;<\/p><p class=\"P32\"><span>yourself; <\/span>&#x200b;&#x200b;&nbsp;<span>you will need to<\/span><\/p><p class=\"P33\"><span>make a choice to<\/span>&#x200b;&#x200b;&nbsp;<span>go inside.<\/span><\/p><p class=\"P34\"><span>And so I<\/span>&#x200b;&#x200b;&nbsp;<span>reluctantly, quietly<\/span><\/p><p class=\"P35\"><span>ever so<\/span>&#x200b;&#x200b;&nbsp;<span>tentatively<\/span>&#x200b;&#x200b;&nbsp;<span>lifted the latch<\/span><\/p><p class=\"P36\"><span>and pushed the door<\/span><\/p><p class=\"P37\"><span>ajar.<\/span><\/p><p class=\"P38\">&nbsp;<\/p><p class=\"P39\"><span>Nothing.<\/span><\/p><p class=\"P40\">&nbsp;<\/p><p class=\"P41\"><span>Nothing at all.<\/span><\/p><p class=\"P42\">&nbsp;<\/p><p class=\"P43\"><span>So, I<\/span>&#x200b;&#x200b;&nbsp;<span>shoved the door a bit<\/span>&#x200b;&#x200b;&nbsp;<span>more<\/span><\/p><p class=\"P44\"><span>and stepped across<\/span><\/p><p class=\"P45\"><span>the threshold and<\/span>&#x200b;&#x200b;&nbsp;<\/p><p class=\"P46\"><span>it hit me<\/span>&#x200b;&#x200b;&nbsp;<span>like the wind<\/span>&#x200b;&#x200b;&nbsp;<\/p><p class=\"P47\"><span>of a 1000 deserts and the<\/span><\/p><p class=\"P48\"><span>purr of a kitten.<\/span><\/p><p class=\"P49\"><span>A vision exploded in my head<\/span>&#x200b;&#x200b;&nbsp;<span>as<\/span><\/p><p class=\"P50\"><span>the light shone<\/span>&#x200b;&#x200b;&nbsp;<span>from<\/span>&#x200b;&#x200b;&nbsp;<span>the room<\/span><\/p><p class=\"P51\"><span>so bright that I was blinded.<\/span><\/p><p class=\"P52\"><span>It burst<\/span>&#x200b;&#x200b;&nbsp;<span>out through the door<\/span><\/p><p class=\"P53\"><span>and<\/span>&#x200b;&#x200b;&nbsp;<span>encircled the dark;<\/span><\/p><p class=\"P54\"><span>or was it that the dark<\/span>&#x200b;&#x200b;&nbsp;<span>became<\/span><\/p><p class=\"P55\"><span>the center of the light?<\/span><\/p><p class=\"P56\">&nbsp;<\/p><p class=\"P57\"><span>the<\/span>&#x200b;&#x200b;&nbsp;<span>open<\/span>&#x200b;&#x200b;&nbsp;<span>door to the world<\/span><\/p><p class=\"P58\"><span>freed the light but the light<\/span><\/p><p class=\"P59\"><span>did not<\/span>&#x200b;&#x200b;&nbsp;<span>dispel the darkness<\/span>&#x200b;&#x200b;&nbsp;<\/p><p class=\"P60\"><span>as<\/span>&#x200b;&#x200b;&nbsp;<span>much as give it form<\/span><\/p><p class=\"P61\"><span>and shape so that<\/span>&#x200b;&#x200b;&nbsp;<\/p><p class=\"P62\"><span>the two fit together<\/span><\/p><p class=\"P63\"><span>in a type of<\/span>&#x200b;&#x200b;&nbsp;<span>puzzling<\/span>&#x200b;&#x200b;&nbsp;<span>mosaic<\/span><\/p><p class=\"P64\"><span>allowing me to walk<\/span><\/p><p class=\"P65\"><span>in and out of both<\/span>&#x200b;&#x200b;&nbsp;<\/p><p class=\"P66\"><span>and I saw that it was<\/span>&#x200b;&#x200b;&nbsp;<\/p><p class=\"P67\"><span>possible, even preferable<\/span><\/p><p class=\"P68\"><span>for them both to exist<\/span><\/p><p class=\"P69\"><span>and darkness and light<\/span><\/p><p class=\"P70\"><span>were not opposite<\/span><\/p><p class=\"P71\"><span>each other.<\/span><\/p><p class=\"P72\">&nbsp;<\/p><p class=\"P73\"><span>But the vision blasted<\/span><\/p><p class=\"P74\"><span>on without hesitation<\/span>&#x200b;&#x200b;&nbsp;<\/p><p class=\"P75\"><span>determined to<\/span>&#x200b;&#x200b;&nbsp;<\/p><p class=\"P76\"><span>fully show itself<\/span><\/p><p class=\"P77\">&nbsp;<\/p><p class=\"P78\"><span>in that vision I saw<\/span><\/p><p class=\"P79\"><span>a <\/span>&#x200b;&#x200b;&nbsp;<span>new way<\/span>&#x200b;&#x200b;&nbsp;<span>born from<\/span><\/p><p class=\"P80\"><span>the highest ideals<\/span><\/p><p class=\"P81\"><span>in the lowliest of places<\/span><\/p><p class=\"P82\"><span>I saw that the spirits of the heavens<\/span><\/p><p class=\"P83\"><span>had come to earth in the form<\/span><\/p><p class=\"P84\"><span>of<\/span>&#x200b;&#x200b;&nbsp;<span>promise<\/span><\/p><p class=\"P85\"><span>in place of despair.<\/span><\/p><p class=\"P86\">&nbsp;<\/p><p class=\"P87\"><span>I saw<\/span>&#x200b;&#x200b;&nbsp;<span>Matthew<\/span>&#x200b;&#x200b;&nbsp;<span>run<\/span>&#x200b;&#x200b;&nbsp;<span>laughing<\/span>&#x200b;&#x200b;&nbsp;<span>from the fence post<\/span><\/p><p class=\"P88\"><span>I<\/span>&#x200b;&#x200b;&nbsp;<span>heard<\/span>&#x200b;&#x200b;&nbsp;<span>Emmitt<\/span>&#x200b;&#x200b;&nbsp;<span>whistling<\/span>&#x200b;&#x200b;&nbsp;<span>his little<\/span>&#x200b;&#x200b;&nbsp;<span>tune<\/span><\/p><p class=\"P89\">&nbsp;&#x200b;&#x200b;&nbsp;&#x200b;&#x200b;&nbsp;&#x200b;&#x200b;&nbsp;&#x200b;&#x200b;&nbsp;&#x200b;&#x200b;&nbsp;&#x200b;&#x200b;&#x200b;&#x200b;&nbsp;<span>and James was unchained from the truck<\/span><\/p><p class=\"P90\"><span>I saw worshipers at Mother Emanuel<\/span>&#x200b;&#x200b;&nbsp;<span>praying<\/span><\/p><p class=\"P91\">&nbsp;&#x200b;&#x200b;&nbsp;&#x200b;&#x200b;&nbsp;&#x200b;&#x200b;&nbsp;&#x200b;&#x200b;&nbsp;&#x200b;&#x200b;&#x200b;&#x200b;&nbsp;<span>and I saw Dylan getting the help he needed<\/span><\/p><p class=\"P92\"><span>I saw the men of Pulse dancing<\/span><\/p><p class=\"P93\">&nbsp;&#x200b;&#x200b;&nbsp;&#x200b;&#x200b;&nbsp;&#x200b;&#x200b;&nbsp;&#x200b;&#x200b;&nbsp;&#x200b;&#x200b;&#x200b;&#x200b;&nbsp;<span>with joy and freedom<\/span><\/p><p class=\"P94\"><span>and I saw<\/span>&#x200b;&#x200b;&nbsp;<span>the children of Alleppo<\/span><\/p><p class=\"P95\">&nbsp;&#x200b;&#x200b;&nbsp;&#x200b;&#x200b;&nbsp;&#x200b;&#x200b;&nbsp;&#x200b;&#x200b;&nbsp;&#x200b;&#x200b;&#x200b;&#x200b;&nbsp;<span>sitting down to read<\/span>&#x200b;&#x200b;&nbsp;<span>beside their parents<\/span><\/p><p class=\"P96\"><span>I saw<\/span>&#x200b;&#x200b;&nbsp;<span>Zaevion<\/span>&#x200b;&#x200b;&nbsp;<span>smiling with open arms<\/span><\/p><p class=\"P97\">&nbsp;&#x200b;&#x200b;&nbsp;&#x200b;&#x200b;&nbsp;&#x200b;&#x200b;&nbsp;&#x200b;&#x200b;&nbsp;&#x200b;&#x200b;&#x200b;&#x200b;&nbsp;<span>and I saw the children<\/span>&#x200b;&#x200b;&nbsp;<span>of Sandy Hook running<\/span><\/p><p
