we behave like Pavlov’s dog
pushing the mouse
just one more time
for another shot of
dread and doom
just one more time
to be sure who we can
hate and who is the
target today
we have grown to need
the chaos and the view
our impending doom
that he is so glad to
dispense to us
so that we wear
ourselves out
watching his antics
and then he takes
just a little more away
so little that
we hardly know it
and we push again
