Good morning and welcome to this worship service of Rainbow Mennonite Church. No matter your fears, your grief or your anger. No matter your conditions, questions or doubts. No matter your failures, your friends or your family. No matter all that seems to be so important today, you are welcome here. This is a time of refuge. This is a place of safety and rest and inspiration.
It is right and good
for the people of God to gather
for without this communion
this spot is but
coordinates on a map.
Without the warmth of each hand
touching the shoulders of the next
the stone of the building is
beautiful but cold.
Without this sacred time
of renewed worship
the air is silent faintly
echoing only the past.
For it is in the effort of gathering
that we become
it is in the together being
that we become
it is in the
worshipping community
that we become
fully human
fully divine
people of God.
